Zola
The Fuzzy Gremlin - ~2013
Zola's Rise to Fame
Zola was always an anxious little kitty and camera shy. One day while I was playing on my phone she came up and started to play with me. I ended up taking this screenshot of her and posting it. She became known to a good few hundred people as "The Fuzzy Gremlin" and from then on she loved to get in my face when I had the camera out.
Pre 2024
I took many photos and videos of Zola during the few times I was home. Zola is my Mom's cat but when I live with them, as I have been forced to do since 2022, I loved to take these candid pictures of Zola whenever I could. 2022-2023 I did a lot of work with her for her anxiety and fears, and she slowly started to trust me more and more as time went on. Being a full time Author gave me the time I needed to be there for her in the way she needed.
2024
After all the work we put in together in 2022-2023 Zola began to see me as her safe place. Her favorite place was as close to me as she could get. She was in my lap or in the same room as me. Her main bed is the other side of the couch that I was sleeping on. Other than that mom crocheted her a pillow to use as a bed, and I folded up two of the blankets I had as a child for her to sleep in next to the door. We switched her from free feeding dry food to wet food twice a day with a routine and consistency. I maintain her consistency on a daily basis, and it's done wonders for her health and anxiety. She is a companion and an inspiration for many of the stories that are in progress.
2025
As we get started in 2025 I am going to be taking as many pictures of her as I can. I am posting silly little videos of her every single day for the entire year, so check her out on tiktok. She is getting braver and more adventurous. She's always with me still, but she is starting to go out of the house into our garage or gazebo. She went out into the garage behind mom one day, and no one realized it until she started yelling for us to open the door. She was not scared by that and went back out again a few days later. She has bloomed into a healthy and happy little kitty, and I hope to continue to be with her for years to come! check back in for more updates on her.
